Hatched from our Rainbow Eggs, these Chicks will be mixed breeds from our Pasture Flock. Each chick will be a fun surprise! Enjoy watching them grow and discovering what breeds they may be, with the added excitement of seeing what color eggs the hens will lay in the future.

Our project pen features a beautiful mix of a variety of English and American Orpingtons, a breed prized for its hardiness, calm disposition, and gentle temperament. Orpingtons are friendly, easy to handle, and make a wonderful addition to flocks of all sizes.

Both English and American Orpingtons are excellent dual-purpose chickens. English Orpingtons are especially notable for their larger size, broader breast, and heavier build compared to their American counterparts. Hens are dependable layers of brown eggs, combining productivity with classic beauty.

This year we’re getting a little creative with a fun project pen. We’re pairing our Splash hens—including BYM, Olive Eggers, and Easter Eggers—with a Black Copper Marans rooster to see what exciting combinations hatch out.

These offspring will not be considered Marans, as this is strictly a project pen focused on exploration and variety. We anticipate a mix of Splash, Blue, Black, and Blue-Black chicks. The goal of this project is to work toward darker olive-colored eggs, possibly with speckling—though speckles would be an especially exciting bonus!

Please note: no requests for specific colors, as hatch results will vary.
